Description
Some sketches of Velociraptor mongoliensis in the desert, nibbling on a Mononykus with a bit of experimantal photoshop coloration. I drew this in order to redeem myself a bit from this abomination I drew years ago...
I stuck with the design of a bearded vulture's colors for it's feathers, since it still looks badass and provides a nice contrast. Funnily many artists have done it by now, especially since the discovery of Dakotaraptor, in order to make it look badass too, so I guess by now that idea is less than original For the facial whiskers/feathers I got my inspiration from the blue-and-yellow macaw that somehow look a bit like Moan facial tattoos but I sorta like the idea and it also allows me to keep the vulture's beard in a somewhat useful way.
I played a bit with the poses and the feathers, drawing it sometimes puffed up like an angry rooster and sometimes calm and flat. I also gave it a small red crest, even though there's no need for that. I still think that the legs and feet are a bit too thick in some places but overall I'm quite happy with those quick studies. If there's anything I should improve for my next studies, let me know! As for the more experienced Theropod experts, please don't burn me too hard if there still are some really bad scientific inaccuracies
