Description

One of the detail Images I'm drawing for my Bachelor project for the Swiss National Park about Alp Grimmels. This one being from the upper Triassic (210 million years ago) landscape when the region was part of a sorta Bahamas like landscape with beaches, flat sea floors and early dinosaurs leaving their tracks behind in the muddy sand that can still be seen as fossils in certain areas of the national park. Liliensternus liliensterni was one of them, according to the tracks that have been found. So one could assume it was patrolling the muddy beaches for carcasses such as dead ammonites like Rhacophyllites or bigger prey, such as Plateosaurus that also lived in the area and left behind numerous tracks in the sand.
Since Liliensternus is an early Theropod from the group of the Coelophysoidea, I decided to do not give it feathers or "dino fuzz" but instead stick with some quill like structures on it's back, neck and tail, so it's sorta conservative with the idea if every dinosaur being a fluffy terror. And since Liliensternus is about 5m long, I guess it probably makes sense in the way of keeping itself warm that dense fuzz isn't needed yet. To make up for it being relatively "naked", I gave it some vibrant colors inspired by several reptiles and birds. Though I'm interested in dinosaurs, I'm not a pro, so if you can spot any errors in anatomy or such, let me know, so I can improve =)

Done completely in Photoshop in about 5h of work I'd say.

Art done by Silvana Dettmann aka Dragunalb aka me.
